Welcome to America 2.0!
Mr. Barack H. Obama will be sworn in as the 44th President of the United States at 12:00 pm EST today, Jan. 20, 2009. In addition to the sweeping psychological and ideological change this occasion brings, there's the manner in which the inauguration will be documented.
This is the first president who understands and uses Web 2.0 applications. Mr. Obama's campaign featured his own website, Facebook and Twitter accounts. He and his staff know that today's voters are communicating in a more immediate fashion. Finally, MSM (that's mainstream media) is realizing it as well. For example, CNN is asking members of the public attending the event on The Mall to stream their images of The Moment (http://www.cnn.com/SPECIALS/2009/44.president/inauguration/themoment/). Average citizens will be in the position of capturing Mr. Obama taking the oath of office and sending the photos to a news organization.
Change. I, for one, am ready. How about you?
